In this week’s spotlight interview, Bob talks with Dr. Stephen Porges, Distinguished University Scientist at Indiana University where he is the founding director of the Traumatic Stress Research Consortium. He is also Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina, and Professor Emeritus at both the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Maryland. In addition, Dr. Porges has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers across multiple disciplines and is a renowned author and speaker.

Dr. Porges shares about the Polyvagal Theory, a theory he proposed in 1994 that links the evolution of the mammalian autonomic nervous system to social behavior and emphasizes the importance of physiological state in the expression of behavioral problems and psychiatric disorders. In addition to explaining the theory and how it relates to ADHD and behaviors, he and Bob discuss practical strategies and tools for how we can support our children and families dealing with ADHD.

We hope you enjoy this conversation!
